Volvo Penta Provides Electrified Power Solutions For Both Land And Sea

Hot on the heels of Volvo Penta ’ s announcement that it will provide electrified power solutions for both land and sea by 2021, the company has revealed details of a hybrid-powered Inboard Performance System (IPS) concept. Abitrage Designed to extend further IPS ’ s advantage, the hybrid variant will allow boats to operate in the low-and-zero emission zones that are expected to be introduced in the coming years*. The hybrid configuration will also bring additional benefits, including lower noise, vibrations and running costs. Volvo Penta’s IMO Tier III Solution

Volvo Penta ’ s IMO Tier III Solution With 114 journeys every day, the Svanhild ferry has a heavy workload in transporting passengers and cars between two Swedish islands. The roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessel makes 57 return trips between the islands of Lilla Varholmen and Bjorko, west of Gothenburg. Each journey on the 900m route takes around five minutes, but with such a busy schedule, time is of the essence. Yet efficiency is not the only mark of the ferry ’ s success; as the company is a division of the government ’ s Swedish Transport Administration, sustainability is also valued. Fuel System and Engine Oil Maintenance Lubrication System Oil change intervals may vary according to the lubrication oil grade, fuel sulfur content and running conditions. Refer to Oil recommendations. The oil change interval may under certain conditions be increased. To see if the engine complies Volvo Penta oil analysis needs to be performed. Contact your Volvo Penta dealer for further information. NOTICE! Oil change intervals must never exceed a period of 12 months. Oil level, checking and topping up The oil level must be inside the marked area on the dipstick and must be checked daily before the first start. • Top up with oil via the filler opening; refer to Maintenance, page 45. • The oil level can be read both when the engine is stationary (the STOP side of the dipstick) and with the engine running (the OPERATING side of the dipstick).Do not fill above the maximum oil level. Only use a recommended grade of oil, please refer to Technical Data, page
