The Full Implementation Of China Vi Emission Standard




On January 8, Yuchai held the Yuchai China VI Engines Release Conference. Su Wanhua, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Tianjin University, attended the conference and joined hands with Yan Ping, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., to unveil YCK15N, the China VI engine with the highest horsepower.
As an expert in internal combustion engine engineering, Su Wanhua was the center of media attention in the conference. He accepted the interview on invitation.


In the interview, Su Wanhua pointed out that diesel engines are extensively applied to such diverse fields as the trucks, passenger cars, and engineering machinery. The data indicates that 80% of freight and 77% of passenger transport are transported by vehicles equipped with heavy-duty diesel engines in China. Hence, diesel engine manufacturing is the foundation and the key sector of China. Meanwhile, heavy-duty diesel vehicles are major consumers of petroleum. Accounting for 13.9% of automobiles, heavy-duty commercial vehicles consume nearly 50% of the total petroleum consumption of automobiles. How to realize ultra-low emission and low fuel consumption while at the same time ensuring the reliability of heavy-duty diesel vehicles is the vital task of China.


It is predicted that, according to Su Wanhua, the full implementation of China VI emission standard will be realized in 2020 when Chinese emission standards are aligned with the emission standards of developed countries so that Chinese enterprises can rival international competitors. The 14 models of engines released by Yuchai have reached world-leading levels in oil consumption, energy conservation, performance, durability, and other aspects; some indexes of Yuchai China VI engines even outperform the performance indexes of global renowned enterprises in the heavy-duty truck industry, such as Cummins.


Considering the integrity of product portfolios, application domains, sales volume and other outstanding achievements of Yuchai engines, Su Wanhua believed that Yuchai takes the lead in the industry. In alignment with the strictest emission standards worldwide, Yuchai China VI engines are a landmark achievement of Yuchai, not only facilitating national energy-saving and emission reduction but also participating in international competition as a Chinese representative. Su Wanhua quoted from the report of AVL team to comment on Yuchais achievements: the advancing R&D capability, the tough and ambitious spirit, and the joint efforts of Yuchai are the key to success.
