3.10 Power Definition and Working Conditions of Weichai Diesel Engine for Power Generation

3.10.1 Power definition
Continuous Power COP
In unlimited annual running time of diesel engine, the maximum power acquired when the engine is running continuously under constant load.ISO standard power.
Normal Power PRP
In unlimited annual running time of diesel engine, the maximum power acquired when the engine is running continuously under variable load. ISO standard power which can overload by 10%.
Standby Power ESP
Maximum power in some variable power series with annual running time of diesel engine up to 200h.ISO standard power with limited fuel volume.

3.10.2 Running Conditions and Applications of Power
Running conditions and applications of different powers of diesel engine are as shown in Table 3-1.




Ambiance condition
The diesel engine should be able to output rated power in the following conditions.
Atmospheric pressure, PX:100kPa (or 0 meter above sea level);
Ambiance temperature , Tr: 298K(25℃);
Relative air humidityΦr: 30%
The diesel engine should be able to work continuously and reliably in the following conditions:
Range of ambiance temperature: -30℃≤T≤50℃;
Relative air humidity: the max relative humidity is 90% of the wettest month in a year(It means that the lowest average temperature of this month is 25℃).
The working environment should be without explosive gas and electric mote.
The customer should illuminate in advance if there has any especial and dangerous condition at the working space (for example, explosive and flammable gas).

Why does diesel genset lose excitation

Generator loss of excitation fault means that the excitation current provided by the excitation system suddenly disappears completely or partially. After the synchronous generator is out of magnetic, it will be transferred to the asynchronous running state, and the reactive power will be absorbed from the original reactive power conversion. The causes of generator loss of magnetism fault are: generator rotor winding fault, excitation system fault, automatic demagnetization switch trip and circuit fault. The effect of generator loss of excitation on the system: 1. Low-excitation and magnetic-loss generators absorb reactive power from the system, causing the voltage of the power system to decrease.
