How to install silent gasoline generator set


Today we would like to share the methods of installation of silent gasoline generator set.

We need to be aware of six major points when installing silent gasoline generator set:

1.The installation site shall be well ventilated, with sufficient air inlet at the generator end and good air outlet at the gasoline engine end. The area of air outlet shall be more than 1.5 times of the area of water tank.

2.The surroundings of the installation site shall be kept clean, and articles that can produce corrosive gas and steam such as acid and alkali shall not be placed nearby. If conditions permit, fire extinguishing devices shall be provided.

3.For indoor use, the smoke exhaust pipe must be led to the outdoor, the pipe diameter must be ≥ the diameter of the smoke outlet pipe of the muffler, and the number of elbows of the connected pipe should not exceed 3, so as to ensure the smooth smoke exhaust, and the pipe should be inclined down 5-10 degrees to avoid rainwater injection; if the exhaust pipe is installed vertically upward, the rain cover must be installed.

4.When the foundation adopts concrete, the levelness shall be measured with a level ruler during installation to make the unit fixed on the horizontal foundation. There shall be special shock pad or foot bolt between the unit and the foundation.

5.The unit shell must be provided with reliable protective grounding. For generators requiring direct grounding of neutral point, professional personnel must conduct neutral grounding and be equipped with lightning protection device. It is strictly prohibited to use the grounding device of municipal power for direct grounding of neutral point.

6.The bi-directional switch between generator and municipal power must be very reliable in order to prevent power from being sent back. Wiring reliability of two-way switch shall be inspected and approved by local power supply department.

We also should pay attention to some points as follows:

1.All lockable screens of the gasoline generator shall be locked during operation, and the key shall be in the charge of a specially assigned person. Do not leave the key in the lock hole. In case of emergency, all personnel must be able to use the correct method of treating electric shock. The staff engaged in this work are trained and recognized.

2.Insulating tools must be used no matter who connects or disconnects any part of the circuit at work.

3.Before connecting or disconnecting the circuit of the unit, ensure the safety of the electric output of the circuit.

4.Metal objects are not allowed to be placed on the battery of starting motor of ITO engine or on the terminal of gasoline generator.

To sum up, simply speaking, a series of brand gasoline generator sets, such as gasoline generator, Volvo gasoline generator, Perkins gasoline generator, etc.( of course, including diesel generators), should pay attention to the safety of power use when carrying out the safety maintenance. Not only the operators who carry out the maintenance need to pay attention, but also the employees in the equipment accessories should not move or touch randomly.
