On November 29, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China issued a commendation file which announced the list of the winners of “Skills Awards of China” and “National Technical Experts”. Among the winners of the highest prizes by government for high-skilled talents in China, two staff members of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Yuchai) were included. One is Chi Zhaojiu, a senior fitter, who won the “Skills Awards of China”, and the other one is Tan Zhu, a senior maintenance electrician, who got the title of “National Technical Experts”. Yuchai Group is the only enterprise in the industry which wins these two honorary titles.
Chi Zhaojiu, winner of the "Skills Awards of China", has devoted himself to the research and development of diesel engine airway molds for more than 20 years. Among more than 1,000 sets of airway molds of Yuchai for tackling key technical problems, over 700 were made by Chi Zhaojiu. With the accumulation of data of thousands of molds, the excellent cylinder head airway technology created by Yuchai is low-emission, fuel-efficient and high-power, reaching the international advanced level. Besides, the price of self-made molds is 80% lower than that of international molds. As far as this point is concerned, more than millions of research and development funds can be saved. Above all, this technology completely broke the foreign monopoly of core technology of four-valve airway.
Tan Zhu, winner of the title of "National Technical Experts," has been engaged in the installation, adjustment and maintenance of numerically-controlled machine tools for 20 years. He has become an expert of solving the troublesome problems of electrical equipment, able to make many old equipment be "back to life". He has twice won the champions in the vocational skills competition held among the staff members. In 2015, there occurred a non-synchronous trouble in double shafts of the gantry of a gantry machining center of Yuchai Marine Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as YCMP) worth RMB 100 million. With Tan Zhu's help, YCMP successfully resolved the fault, restarting the equipment in a long downtime and ensuring it to be back to normal production.
Yuchai respects labor and encourages the workers to tap their subjective initiatives to make positive contributions to the development of the company. High-skilled talents serve as the backbone at the production line. In recent years, with the platform of Technicians Association, Yuchai has carried out the implementation of training projects focused on high-skilled talents, and continuously increasing the investment of skilled personnel construction in the evidence of the establishing of nine studios for technical experts including fitters, technicians of internal combustion engine assembly and maintenance electrician. Besides, experts studio "mobile station" was set up to fully develop their skills in technical quality breakthrough, skills inheritance, equipment improvement, on-site troubleshooting, etc. For activating the subjective initiative of skilled talents’ innovation, and turning them into the bridge of the transformation of scientific and technological achievements to practical productivity, Yuchai also organized a number of skilled talents to study at some well-known enterprises at home and abroad.
In addition to increasing the construction of the team of workers and technicians, Yuchai has also increased the cultivation of scientific researchers and other high-end personnel, and set up a special chairman bonus fund, with a total of RMB 3 million each year as a reward for R & D personnel. In the past three years, Yuchai has rewarded 366 technical achievement projects with a total prize fund of RMB 9.535 million; rewarded 19 cars for scientific and technological experts, management cadres, engineers and technicians with outstanding contributions, with an investment of RMB 3.84 million.
Strong incentives, training, and training policies have inspired the team's creativity. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, Yuchai received 2,308 patent licenses, an increase of 281% over the same period of last year. It has won the laurels of the amount of enterprises’ patent application in Guangxi province for 11 consecutive years and has been in a leading position in the industry with regard to innovation. "The Key Technology and Industrialization of Energy-efficient & Environmentally Friendly Diesel Engine" and other two projects have won the Second Prize of National Award for Progress in Science and Technology. The project of "The Key Technology and Equipment of the Non-mold Compound Forming Manufacturing of Complex Casting" won the 2016 Special Prize of China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award. Yuchai Group won the Nomination Prize of China Quality Award for the second consecutive years, becoming the only one in the industry which won the title of “The First-batch Outstanding Enterprises of National Intellectual Property” and the only one in the industry building national engineering laboratories for the energy-efficient and environmentally friendly internal combustion engine.
